Girl group miss A's Suzy was named the number 1 idol of 2013, with Girls' Generation Yoona in 2nd place.
A survey was conducted by publisher Kim Young Sa with the question, "Who is the top representative idol of 2013?" This survey was done in conjunction with the release of "Language Genius Jo Seung Yeon's Story of Humanities."
A total of 489 people in their 20s-40s were surveyed in Seoul's Kangnam, Myungdong, and Apgujeong. The results came back and Suzy took the number 1 spot with an overwhelming 328 votes, and Girls' Generation member Yoona came in 2nd with 74 votes. ZE:A's Park Hyungsik (59 votes) and MBLAQ's Lee Joon (24 votes) were also contenders.

Kim Young Sa stated, "I tried to untangle the story and history of the phrase 'Story of Humanities.' While reading the contents of the book, I especially noted the idol craze syndrome, and began to wonder who the most representative idol of this year is. That's why I decided to conduct the survey." Kim continued, "The majority of respondents stated that Suzy is the most influential culture icon. Suzy is the leading star who has the most crushes and one that many want to be like. She truly is Korea's national representative idol."
The author Jo Seung Yeon actually uses the phrase "story of humanities" to refer to the technique that ancient Indian and European religious leaders used to gain absolute following from the believers. When considering the phrase "story of humanities," it's no wonder that idols have such a large fan following.
The public's love for Suzy is confirmed again in another survey conducted by the CM Korean Institute for Strategic Studies in June, July, August, and September. For 4 months straight, Suzy was chosen as the number 1 favorite ad model.
Suzy's group miss A will be making a comeback with their 2nd album Hush on the 6th. Their comeback stage will air on the 7th via cable channel Mnet's "M Countdown." The title song "Hush" is a provocative and luxurious sexy song that describes the feelings one has towards a loved one.
