IU Eyes Return To Singing Career In September: 'She's Been Working On A Lot Of New Songs' Rep Says Popular South Korean star IU is considering a possible return to singing in September.

Popular South Korean star IU is considering a possible return to singing in September.

The 20-year-old is considering making a K-pop comeback after her stint on the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) television program “You’re The Best Lee Soon Shin.”

“IU will be returning as a singer after the conclusion of KBS2′s ‘You’re The Best Lee Soon Shin,’” a representative for IU told the publication eNEWS.

“She’s thinking of making a comeback in September.”

IU, who reportedly put her music career on hold in May of 2012, has been planning her return to singing for quite some time, the star’s representative explained.

“She’s continuously recorded for her album even before she started acting for ‘You’re The Best Lee Soon Shin,’ aiming to return in September,” the IU rep said.

“What form her album will be in hasn’t been decided yet, but she’s been working on a lot of new songs.”

IU is slated to release the Japanese singles “Monday Afternoon” and “Follow The Moon” on September 11, but her official K-pop comeback could be delayed as late as early October, a spokesperson from the star’s record label LOEN Entertainment told the website TENASIA.

Although fans of her music are no doubt clamoring for a release from the artist after her more than year-long hiatus, IU has had a successful run with “You’re The Best Lee Soon Shin.”

Earlier this week, KBS announced that the weekend drama is South Korea’s most watched television program for the seventh week in a row.

The ratings tracking company AGB Nielson Korea, claims “You’re The Best Lee Soon Shin” was watched by one in four television viewers in its timeslot.

Meanwhile online speculation continues to swirl around whether IU, whose real name is Lee Ji Eun, happens to be dating.

Linked with Super Junior rapper Eunhyuk, last month, the newest round of speculation was stirred up when IU and actor Lee Hyun Woo attended a movie together.

Last week, a LOEN spokesperson categorically denied any romantic involvement between the two stars.

“It is true that [IU and Lee Hyun Woo] saw a movie, but they weren’t alone together. They were accompanied by a manager who saw the movie with them,” the spokesperson said.

“IU and Lee Hyun Woo are old friends. Lee Hyun Ho was cast in IU’s ‘You and I’ music video, and the two are close enough that they can watch movies together.”
