This situation does seem a little fishy.

On June 15th, Super Junior was nominated for Artist Saga on Italian MTV Awards in Florence. The boys were up against many strong candidates including One Direction and Italian artist Marco Mengoni. However, at the end of the voting period, ELF’s efforts were not enough to pull to the top, as Marco Mengoni took the winning spot. However, many Super Junior fans are angry at this outcome. Not because of the fact that Super Junior lost to another artist, but because fans believe there was some foul play involved.

During the voting process that led up until the final round, fans were informed that they could vote up to 10 times a day. However, an Italian ELF had found evidence of fraudulent voting, as a fan of Marco Mengoni posted a picture of her voting 650 times. Many fans were shocked at this and even started an Event page in order to stand united against MTV Italia.

The fact that a group who has millions of fans on Facebook and Twitter were not able to dominate against an artist who is only mostly known throughout Italy, was hard for most fans to understand. Comments such as this were left on the MTV Italia Facebook Page.

So statistically it is impossible to present the percentage of the vote, because there are ways to give more of the 10 votes per day. So why not open a new vote where the votes are not limited to 10, but unlimited, where the race left in the 4 remaining artists (Amoroso, 1D, SUJU and Mengoni) so we will be free to vote as we want, which of course will win the artist was more supported by his fans. “

To most, this was an unbelievable event. However, a cheat was found on Marco Mengoni fandom accounts that allowed manipulation to votes, leading many fans to understand how it was possible. Fans discovered a website that was able to cheat the voting process and award multiple votes past the max amount. This would explain why there were instances of 99,999 votes awarded.

Not only were votes found to be manipulated, many fan votes were not even counted. During the voting through the Social Tracker, which was used to count Twitter tweets, many tweets were being posted, but the number of votes for Super Junior stayed the same. This can be seen in a video recording posted by a Super Junior fan.

At this time, there has not been a statement from MTV Italia on the matter, but fans still have hope. They have created a Facebook page to gather together, in the hopes of getting an answer and apology for what has occurred during the 2013 Italian Music Awards.
