Big Bang’s T.O.P took home the rookie award at Busan International Film Festival’s Asia Star Awards.
The BIFF is a film festival that has 300 movies from 70 different countries. On October 3, T.O.P participated in the red carpet opening ceremony and spent the next two nights and three days in Busan with movie fans.
On October 5, he attended the Asia Star Awards, the official party of BIFF, which took place at the Park Hyatt Hotel at 7PM (KST). Standing side by side with the big names of movie industry, T.O.P won the rookie award, becoming the only Korean actor to win in the award ceremony with four categories.
T.O.P debuted on the big screen in 2010 with Into the Fire, which he took home the rookie award at the Blue Dragon Movie Awards. Returning to acting after three years, T.O.P met with Busan spectators first with his newest project, The Commitment, raising anticipation for the movie with his latest rookie award.
The Commitment is a story about 18-year old Myung Hoon (T.O.P), whose father, a North Korean spy, fails at his mission, resulting in the family being sentenced into labor camps. In order to save his only sister (Kim Yoo Jung)’s life, Myung Hoon decides to go down south to become an undercover spy for the North.
It’s said that many fans flocked to see the actor during the special screening and award ceremony.
Meanwhile, the scenes from BIFF will be revealed through the November issue of Marie Claire, the official magazine for the film festival.
The Commitment will premiere on November 6.
