Fans of the singer IU might have noticed a pattern developing in the South Korean solo artist's song titles--they all are three words long.
On Monday, IU explained the rationale behind naming such hits as "You & I" and "The Red Shoes" (titles that are three words in Korean as well) during an interview on the Seoul Broadcasting System radio show "Kim Chang Ryul's Old School."

"Three word titles are considered to be a lucky streak among my staff," the 20-year-old singer explained.
"Until now, three word titles have done well, so we thought to continue that way. When it becomes time to challenge it or venture out, I said we should go for four words, but it's not the right moment yet."
IU discussed the visual aspect of her hit album "Modern Times," released earlier this month, in the Korean edition of this month's InStyle Magazine.
"My new album is like a sweet red candy," the singer said. "The album cover was in black and white, but I dyed my hair red, so it felt really sweet."
IU also revealed that her dream collaborator for her next album would be 59-year-old singer-songwriter Kim Chang Wan.
It is a request that Kim would be well advised to honor.
IU is one of the hottest stars in the South Korean music scene, currently owning five of the top 10 spots on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100.
But the singer's desire to work with a veteran musician like Kim, should come as a surprise to no one.
As fans familiar with "Modern Times" know, the album (with a title that is clearly an ironic nod to the classic Charlie Chaplin film) is an homage to the pop music landscape of 50 years ago.
Ranging from acoustic jazz to American cabaret torch songs to Afro-Cuban rhythms, IU proves that pop music doesn't have to play by the rules in order to find mainstream success with "Modern Times."
