Second Season Of “The Voice Of China” Airs

The Voice of China Season 2

Let the competition begin!

The Voice of China is a reality talent show from mainland China that recently premiered its second season on July 12th. It’s been the origin of idols like Summer (吉克隽逸) and Zhang Hexuan (張赫宣), and thus, as a result of the successful first season, many fans have been looking forward to a second installment of the show. A new team of vocal coaches as well as new talent are just a part of the highly-anticipated return of the show.

There are two new members of the vocal coach team: A-Mei (张惠妹), an aboriginal Taiwanese singer, and Wang Feng (汪峰), from mainland China. The show is also bringing back coaches Na Ying (那英) and Harlem Yu (庾澄慶). The first episode will be broadcast on Zhejiang Satellite TV, and it features the coaches showcasing their talents by singing each other’s songs for the audience.

A highlight of the show was a new contestant named Ye Binghuan (葉秉桓), who came from Taiwan’s Lala Mountain. He was compared to a smaller version of Crowd Lu, a Taiwanese indie singer, as he was able to greatly impress the judges with his amazing vocals. Wang Feng gave a

simply unimaginable

comment, and Harlem compared his performance as an

out-of-body experience.

Not only did he have a beautiful voice, but Binghuan’s great, bright persona and love for performing caught the judges’ attention. He even daringly set forth on an impromptu combination of the four coaches’ hit songs, leading to Wang Feng to add:

Whatever group you enter will be lucky.

Yet another marvelous contestant was Liu Yating (劉雅婷), who was dubbed as the plump little rock ‘n roll girl. The seventeen-year-old, teacher-to-be showed off her wonderfully powerful voice, surprising the judges the first moment she sang.

Unfortunately, her self esteem was not as powerful. She expressed her sensitivity over her weight and confessed that she didn’t believe in her beauty. The coaches, in an effort to bring up her self confidence, stood up in their seats and persuaded the audience to tell Yating that she was the most beautiful! How moving is that?
