Trouble Maker Tops Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 With 'Now' As 6 New Songs Enter The Top 10

Western music journalists that have been describing K-pop as a sterilized, more PG rated version of American pop, may need to rethink that depiction, as Trouble Maker jumps into the number one spot on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 on the strength of a video that would even make some Miley Cyrus fans blush.

Trouble Maker, which features Hyuna of the group 4Minute and Hyunseung of BEAST shot to number one in their second week on the Billboard K-pop chart with their song "Now," after debuting last week at number 14.

The song's music video, which features the duo in a series of simulated sex scenes, has already been viewed over 9 million times on YouTube.

And Trouble Maker's "Now" is just one of six new arrivals in the Billboard K-Pop top 10 this week, as last week's number one artist K. Will saw his song "You Don't Know Love" fall to number seven.

Despite all the new blood, "Mr. Lee," singer Park Ji Yoon's collaboration with rapper San E, is standing strong in the number two spot.

The track features a retro production sound reminiscent of 1990s East Coast hip-hop.

Sung Si Kyung's cover of the 1993 song "To You" by K-pop pioneers Seo Taiji and Boys debuted at number three on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 this week.

The song also achieved what is known in South Korea as an "all-kill," by placing number one in all of the country's music charts, including Bugs, Olleh, Naver Music, Daum Music, Melon, Mnet, Soribada, Cyworld Music, Monkey 3 and Genie.

Sung told eNEWS that he was worried about whether he would be able to match the quality of the Seo Taiji and Boys version.

"A remake usually cannot be better than the original. It was a song I've always really liked, so I decided to participate as a fan," he said.

"I was worried that the song's tone wouldn't be complemented by soft vocals, and I tried to develop the narration part in my own style."

Singer Ailee's song "Because of Tears" debuted at number four on the Billboard K-pop chart this week. The song was recorded for the soundtrack of the Korean Broadcasting System television drama "Because Of Tears."

"Always Be There" by R&B quartet Brown Eyed Soul enters the Billboard K-pop chart at number five.

The group recently celebrated 10 years together as a band.

Other new arrivals in the Billboard K-pop top 10 include "I Got C" by Myung Soo & Primary, which debuted at number six and Jung Hyung Don and Big Bang rapper G-Dragon's new hip-hop track "Going To Try," entering the chart this week at number 10.

2AM singer Changmin's song "Moment" from the soundtrack for the hit new show "The Heirs" is standing strong at number eight, while solo singer IU's hit "The Red Shoes" drops to number nine (after being at number three) in its fifth week on the Billboard chart.
