Hours before midnight struck in South Korea on Wednesday, fans of the boy band Super Junior were already celebrating the group's eight years in existence.
Several of the 12 members of Super Junior took to social media to offer messages of thanks and reflection on entering their ninth year.
Vocalist Yesung spoke directly to the group's hardcore group of fans, known as ELF (short for everlasting friends) in a message posted to the microblogging website Twitter that far surpassed 140 characters.

"Eight years since our debut," Yesung wrote. "ELF, while I am alone at the moment, thank you for always allowing me to feel your sincere love all the time. Even in the future, I will sing sincerely. Thank you so much, truly, for staying by my side. When I feel frustrated, lonely or am having a hard time, I think of ELF and regain my strength."
The 29-year-old singer (whose real name is Kim Jong Woon) also looked ahead to an even more significant moment in the history of Super Junior.
"Let's spend 2015 together--you guys and the other members," Yesung wrote. "In 2015, the boys [and I] will be celebrating an amazing milestone of 10 years!"
Kim Ryeowook, who hosts the radio program "Sukira" posted a photo online of a poster from fans with handwritten messages congratulating the 26-year-old singer and his Super Junior bandmates on eight years entertaining crowds around the world.
"[This is a thank you from "Sukira" listeners," Ryeowook wrote in reference to the photo. "Thank you for congratulating us on the eighth anniversary."
Super Junior's Siwon has apparently been looking forward to the day for a while.
"Looking forward to tomorrow," he wrote on Monday. "There will be a fun eighth anniversary."
Shin Dong Hee expressed his excitement through a simple sound effect in his online post.
"Eighth anniversary, ba-bam!" he wrote.
Super Junior will be performing in Mexico City on Nov. 7 and at London's Wembley Stadium on Nov. 9 as part of their Super Show 5 world tour.
