John Mayer has successfully pulled our heart in two separate directions here. Who knew!?
While he makes us LOL with the genius idea to feature the work-out of the year in his new lyric video, he turns our protective headlights on when the not-so-subtle Taylor Swift references appear in Paper Doll.
You knew the day was coming…
In what seems to be his own musical response to Swifty's vengeful Dear John, the guitar-playing crooner offers his side of the story with his lyrics:
"You're like 22 girls in one, and none of them know what they're running from. Was it just too far to fall, for a little paper doll?"
Her current smash hit single is 22. So obvious!
"Someone's gonna paint you another sky."
This has to be an answer to her lyric, "You paint me a blue sky and go back and turn it to rain." C'mon, we're no fool!
"Sure was fun being good to you."
In an interview with Rolling Stone, he insisted he did nothing to deserve her loaded words in Dear John, leading us all to believe he felt he was a good boyfriend to her.
We doubt he's gonna deny it, but even if he does, the song definitely brings her memory back for us!
